Eugenia ""Genny"" Brakas, 91, of Chester Township, Ohio (Geauga County) passed away peacefully into eternal rest on Aug. 27, 2013, at her home with her loving family and caregiver by her side.
Genny was born May 27, 1922, in Lithuania.
Genny was the daughter of the late Felix Kobylinsky, violinist and conductor for Tsar Nicholas II, and niece of Eugine Kobylinsky, Commandant of The Alexander Palace for the provisional government, and niece of Adele and Leonard of Russia.
Genny's mother, Maria, and father escaped the turmoil of destruction surrounding the Romanov dynasty.
Genny's mother, Maria, passed away when she was very young, and she was raised by her father and Anna, her loving stepmother.
Genny grew up in Lithuania and was known for being a beautiful and feisty blue-eyed blonde. She learned to play the violin from her father
.
She married Adam John Brakas Jr. on Sept. 27, 1940, and enjoyed 71 years of marriage to Adam before his passing on July 18, 2012.
Adam and Genny emigrated to England with their son, Adam (Adomas Benediktas), where Genny played second violin in the Barclays Bank Musical Society.
They came to the U.S. in 1960, living in Buffalo where Adam worked at the Ford Motor Company and Genny worked at two bakeries.
After retirement, they moved to Ohio to be closer to their son, Adam; his wife, Marilyn; and their granddaughters.
Loving memories of Genny will be carried on by her son, Adam (Adomas Benediktas) Brakas of Chester Township; two granddaughters, Yvonne Jeanette Botsis and Suzanne Denise Brakas; as well as two nephews, Vito Kabas and Valentine Kabas, both of Pennsylvania.
Genny was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Maria Kobylinsky; stepmother, Anna; husband, Adam; and two brothers, Benediktas Kobylinsky (born in 1919 in Petrograd) and Leonard Kobylinsky (born in 1925 in Lithuania).
Friends may visit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at the Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chester Township, where services will immediately follow at 1 p.m.

HUSBAND
Adam John Brakas, Jr., age 91 of Chesterland, Ohio passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Wednesday morning July 18, 2012.
Adam was born on June 28, 1921 in Lithuania, the son of the late Adam John Brakas Sr. and Elena (Jumasev) Brakas.
Adam grew up in Lithuania as a child and after school he married Genny (Eugenia) Kobylinsky on Sept. 27, 1940.
After WWII they came to the United States in 1960.
He worked at the Ford Motor Company Stamping Plant in Buffalo, NY for 22 years, retiring in 1983.
He spent numerous days at various hospitals and rehab facilities, but he wasn't there for himself. He was there as a caregiver and companion to Genny whom he had been married to for 71 years. Often he bid farewell to the nurses with a genuine, "Thank you for caring for my wife" and a big box of chocolates!
He cared for Genny at home as well, until his own health required some assistance by family and home caregivers. He is preceded in death by his parents, and many brothers and sisters.
Adam is survived by his loving wife, Genny Brakas, his son, Adam B. Brakas, 2 granddaughters, Yvonne Botsis and Suzanne Brakas all of Chesterland, OH, 4 sisters, Lenute Brakas, Asta & Tony Ziobakes of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, Maria Brakas and Irene Brakas both of Toronto, Ontario Canada, 2 brothers, Vito (Vytautas) Brakas of Wickliffe, OHIO, and Bill (Bijunas) and his wife Cecilia Brakas of Oakville, Canada.
Calling hours will be held Monday, July 23, 2012 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Rd. (Rt. 306, N. of Mayfield Rd.) Chesterland, OH 44026 (440)729-1906. Funeral services will immediately follow at 7:00 pm.
