WINDHAM – Stephanie Yurchison, 79, a 15-year Windham, Ohio resident, passed away Sunday (2007) at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital.

She was born June 20, 1927 in Youngstown, Ohio. (Mahoning County)

She was a nurse in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of captain.
She became a nursing supervisor at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio and was a teacher at Katherine Thomas Elementary School in Windham, OH.


She is survived by her sister, Jean Tkach of Poland, Ohio and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Stephanie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mary (Sosnowski) Yurchinson; her brothers, Michael and Stanley Yurchinson; and her sister, Katherine (David) Thomas.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown, OH.

Arrangements are being made by the Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St. in Garrettsville, Ohio.

Melanie Marina Ferlaino, 56, died early Friday morning, Sept 6, 2013.

Marina was born Dec. 31, 1956, in East Liverpool, Ohio to Anthony M. and Anna M. (Trivelli) Ferlaino.

She was a 1975 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School, Youngstown, Ohio and received a license in practical nursing.
Marina worked for Caprice Health Care Center, formerly Diamond Head, as the MDS Coordinator for 33 years
. She was very artistic and enjoyed painting and sewing. Marina’s greatest love was for her niece, Melanie, whom was the apple of her eye.

Marina was always so kind and generous. Her selfless attitude always found a way to comfort the sick, ease the pain of those suffering, and provide for those in need.

She is survived by her sister, Toni Dean of Poland, Ohio; brother Anthony Ferlaino Jr. and his wife, Sharon of Chantilly, Va.; and her niece, Melanie Becher and husband Brandon of Columbus, Ohio.

Marina was preceded in death by her parents.

Family and friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Prayers will begin Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Christine Church

GERMANTOWN, TENN. – William E. Hoelzle, 76, passed from this life, Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, TN.

He was born Nov. 27, 1936, in Sharon, Pa., to the late Marlan and Louise Otte Hoelzle.

He was a graduate of Sharon High School and Youngstown State University.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS Haynesworth DD700. Upon his retirement as a Electrical Engineer with General Electric, he pursued his love of wood working, of which many family and friends were beneficiaries of his talented creations.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Billy Hoelzle, and a daughter-in-law, Stephanie Hoelzle.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jackie Manion Hoelzle; three daughters, Lori Thompson (David), Jennifer Bowen (Shane), and Kim Kraft (Adam); a son, Kevin Hoelzle (fiancé Kathy Dodds); three sisters, Louis Murray, Arlene Darko, and Janet Matchak (Larry); a brother, Jim Hoelzle (Maxine); and 11 grandchildren.

The family will have a Memorial service in Pennsylvania at a later date.

TOLEDO, Ohio – Delvin Geis Johnson, 96, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife and life partner, Betty Kirkendall Johnson and his brothers, Howard and Edward.

He was born in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) the first son of William and Neva Johnson.

He was a great athlete in high school, served with the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS LST 40, and graduated from Denison University, Granville, Ohio in 1942 as a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

As a young man, Del worked for Weirton Steel Mill, and then Wolverine Trucking Company, delivering copper to Atlanta.

He then went on to become a teacher and coach at Whitmer High School, Toledo, Ohio.

Del brought his love of wood and his great design and crafting talents to his students in shop and woodworking class, which were his passion.
In addition, his strong values, passion for high standards, leadership qualities, and interest in young people made him an outstanding mentor for many students.

Although Del and Betty did not have children of their own, they have always been wonderfully proud of their many nieces and nephews in New Jersey and Ohio, as well as their families.

Over the past several years, Del’s caregiver and friend, Bob Middleton, has demonstrated a pure compassion for taking care of Del and making him feel special.
Del’s extended family wishes to thank Bob for his genuine heartfelt care of Del.

The funeral services with military honors will begin at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St. in Sylvania, Ohio on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at 1 p.m., where family and friends are invited to gather for visitation starting at 11 a.m.

Hi I am looking for someone named Lucy Ann Eades she died in a car crash when her car crashed into the gas station next to the Big 4 Inn in Arcata. She had a son named William. We do not know what her husband's name was but we are pretty sure that his last name was Sutter. She died in 1940-1943 some where around there. Kathryn M. Siclair, 84, of 227 South Street, Galion, Ohio, died Monday, December 15, 2003 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.

Born April 4, 1919 in Salem, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Mary Vasilovic.

She was a member of the Galion Golden Age Center and its Jing-A-Lings and a member of Galion Community Center-YMCA where she enjoyed water aerobics. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Karen Siclair, of Littleton, Colorado and a daughter and companion, Nancy Siclair and Dick Burkley, of Columbus, Ohio; a grandson, Brett Siclair, of Littleton, Colo.; a sister, Sally Fava, of Las Vegas; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sam and Kathleen Siclair, of Galion, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was very grateful for all of her loving neighbors of many years on South Street.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony S. Siclair, March 17, 2003. They were married January 9, 1941. She was also preceded by two sisters and two brothers.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2003 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home. There will be no funeral services.
Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

VIENNA TOWNSHIP, OH – Robert J. Polta, 63, passed away early Saturday morning, Sept. 7, 2013, in the emergency room at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren, Ohio (Trumbull County) following an extended illness.

Mr. Polta was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 7, 1950, the son of the late James E. and Helen F. (Hann) Polta.

He was a 1969 graduate of Mathews High School, Vienna, Ohio and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, stationed in Korea.

Bob retired from General Motors Lordstown Plant in 2003 with over 34 years of service in various positions, spending the majority of his time in the body shop.
He was an avid car enthusiast and had enjoyed working on old cars and attending numerous car shows with his family and friends.

He enjoyed watching all types of sports and especially loved rooting for the Cleveland Indians. Bob also enjoyed working around his home, both inside and out, and spending time with his beloved dogs.

He leaves behind his wife of nearly 31 years, Rose M. Wagoner, whom he married Nov. 12, 1982; two sons, Joel Polonus and Mat Polta, both of Vienna; two brothers, Thomas Polta and wife Casey of Fowler and Timothy Polta and wife Sherri of Columbus, Ohio; and two grandsons, Brody and Grayson Polonus.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends and family may call on Tuesday evening, Sept. 10, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Madasz Chapel of Lane Family Funeral Homes at 6923 Warren-Sharon Road in Brookfield.

MINERAL RIDGE, OHIO – Josephine Smith, 92, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Vista Center in the Ridge.

Josephine was born March 3, 1921, in West Virginia to parents, Joseph and Anna (Mayyou) Fraley.

Josephine married Frank W. Smith Sr. in 1940, and together they had two wonderful children. Frank passed away in October of 1985.

Josephine was a very unique person. She worked for 40 years as the secretary for Seaborn Elementary School in Mineral Ridge, Ohio retiring at the age of 83.
She was a competitive dancer and an avid reader.
One of her favorite pastimes was working her way through her son’s garden, picking tomatoes.

Josephine loved watching all types of sporting events and was a great supporter of the school . She was a previous Commander of the women’s group at the VFW in Mineral Ridge.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol (Robert) Wick of Canfield, Ohio; son, Frank W. (Kathy) Smith Jr.; sister, Marion Garrity of Austintown, Ohio; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Virginia Stribling and Annamae Harina; and brother, George Mayyou.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel from 4 to 7 p.m.

Funeral services are Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens.

MENTOR – Caroline Marie Pinizotto, 86, who died Tuesday morning, Sept 10, 2013 at Altercare Nursing Home in Mentor, Ohio.

Caroline was born April 24, 1927, in Struthers, Ohio (Mahoning County) to Nicholas and Mary (Radotovich) Bezyak.

She was a 1945 graduate of Struthers High School.

Caroline worked as a waitress at Brass Rail at the Mural Room for 20 years and retired in 1969 from Squaw Creek County Club.
She was a former member of St. Nicholas Senior Citizens and AARP Chapter 3105.

Caroline’s husband, Angelo Pinizotto, whom she married Oct. 21, 1950, died Nov. 9, 2004.

She is survived by her son, Nick A. (DeAnna) Pinizotto of Mentor, Ohio; a brother, Mike Bezyak Jr. of Poland, Ohio; and three grandsons, Brian (Allison), Jason and Kevin Pinizotto.

Caroline was also preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Kathryn Hopkins, Lillian Markotan, Mary Ann Fox and Dorothy Stupka.

A committal service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the chapel at Lake Park Cemetery, Youngstown, Ohio.

Professional arrangements are being handled by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland, Ohio Chapel.

NORTH LIMA, Ohio – Jean Borak, 85, passed away Sept. 10, 2013, Tuesday morning, Sept. 10, 2013 at Hospice House.

Jean was born May 16, 1928, in Youngstown, Ohio, (Mahoning County) the daughter of George Borak and Virginia McCarius.

She graduated from Youngstown State University in 1968 with a master’s in Education.

Jean taught in the Youngstown City Schools as an elementary teacher for over 20 years.
She was an avid reader and read thousand of books through out her life time.

She is survived by her brother, James and Emmalyn Borak of Youngstown, OH; and three sisters, Geralden Murtha of Poland, Ohio, Louise and William Miller of Canfield, Ohio and Virginia and Bill Burwig of New Middletown, OH.
She also leaves many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514 or to Youngstown State University, Beeghly College of Education,

CASTILLA Felix L.

HUBBARD, OH – There will be services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home for Felix L. Castilla, 90, who passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at the Cleveland Clinic.

Felix was born on Feb. 23, 1923, in Youngstown, Ohio, (Mahoning County) a son of Joaquin and Anastasia Fraile Castilla.

He was a graduate of The Rayen School and attended The University of Minnesota.

Felix was an entrepreneur and owned multiple businesses.
He was the owner of a service station in Hubbard for 25 years, a car wash in Hubbard, GC Party Shop for many years, and after his retirement worked at Schwebel Baking Company.

He was an avid golfer and walked the course at least three times a week until his illness in June of this year.

Felix was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater.

He is survived by his wife, the former Grace A. Crytzer, whom he married Sept. 6, 1958; his daughter, Carol (Tony) Beall of Hubbard; his son, Gary A. (Annette) Castilla of Tampa, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler and Paige.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, Miss Rhonda and Miss Sheri; his first wife, Gizella Nemeth; his brothers, Dan Castilla and Adrian Castilla; and sisters, Mary Curry and Victoria Lundquist.

There will be calling hours on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, one hour prior to the service, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.

Felix will be laid to rest at Corner House Cemetery in Hubbard, with full military honors.
