Marian Nixon Braubach, born on October 9, 1918 in Durango, Colorado, entered into eternal rest on June 8, 2002. Her parents, Ross and Lillian Nixon, were both from pioneering families in Southwestern Colorado. Marian was active in music throughout school and attended University of Denver on a music scholarship. Her college years at DU were cut short by her father’s death during the Great Depression. While working as a Stewardess for Continental Airlines, she came to San Antonio, where she met and married native San Antonio businessman, John H. Braubach. After marriage, Marian, in addition to assisting at the family business, devoted herself to their three children. After serving as Chairperson for the WomenÂ’s Division of United Way in 1973, she was recognized by the San Antonio Express as the “Outstanding Volunteer of the Year”. Marian was in real estate for several years. She and her husband and Count Henry Le Grelle of Belgium, joined together to form Eurotex Corporation, a commercial real estate company with clients primarily from European countries. She has maintained an office and has been President of Eurotex Corporation. Marian’s great love of music led to her joining the Tuesday Musical Club in 1952. She served as President, Artist Series Chair and in many capacities through the years; she has performed with Duo-Piano Ensemble. Her devotion and dedication to the purposes and ideals of the Club inspired her to write a book of history of the Tuesday Musical Club for the Hundredth Anniversary. Marian possessed a strong love of learning, and in 1990 she earned a B.M. degree in piano performance, Magna Cum Laude, and in 1996, she earned a M.M. degree in piano pedagogy at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
